“To Sindria!”

“TO SINDRIA!”

The sounds of clanking mugs and lively music fill the night sky. Dancers take their place on the stage, and many…drunken young men make their moves on the giggling maidens.

Another victory. Sindria’s tall, masculine and no doubt stunning King Sinbad had conquered another dungeon within the Seven Seas with the country’s strongest Eight Generals.

You, on the other hand, were an ambassador of the overly-aggressive, militaristic Kou Empire. When you were sent by the one and only Kouen Ren to “make peace” with Sindria, you knew what he was talking about. But that didn’t mean you did exactly what he told you to do. Surely someone else could infiltrate the kingdom you were currently residing in.

Until then, you decided to enjoy the warm company of these people.

The night slowly dragged on.  Not being the social type, you occupied yourself with the banquet table.

“The food here is absolutely delicious!”

“Wow, [Name]. You really know how to go undercover.”

Still stuffing your face, you look behind you to see a certain magi smirking right back at you.

“Judal!” You say cheerfully through a stuffed mouth.

“Missed me?”

Not letting go of your precious food, you jump on him, which startles him slightly.

“Of course I did, Judal! How could I-”

Your smile quickly fades.

“What are you doing here!?”

“Nice to see you to, [Name].”

“Judal! If the Generals- or worse-Sinbad see you, who knows what could happen to you!?”

“They won’t, unless you keep yelling like that.”

You quickly shut your mouth. The last thing you wanted was Judal getting hurt.

You sigh. Out of all the times Judal could have come here, he chose now?

“Come with me, Judal.”

“Oh, am I in trouble with the boss lady now?”

“Just come over here!” You scream at him as he laughs.

Practically dragging Judal, the two of you leave the area. The music from the festival can still be heard, but muffled.

You let go of Judal’s hand and you turn to face him. “Now, answer me.”

Judal cocks an eyebrow. “Answer you what?”

“Don’t play smart with me, boy.” You pinch Judal’s nose. “Tell me why you’re here.”

“Ow,ow! Okay, okay! I’ll tell you. Just let go!”

Satisfied, you let go of his bright red nose. Judal rubs it and pouts at you.

“Do I have to pinch your nose again?”

“You’re too cruel, [Name].”

You scoff. “Coming from you.”

“Geez, why so serious, [Name]? I thought you would be happy seeing your boyfriend here.”

“Stop procrastinating and tell me why you’re here.”

“Hmph. Fine then.” Judal walks over to you. “Kouen told me to check up on you.”

“I highly doubt that, Judal. What’s the real reason?”

“Do you really want to know?”

“That’s why I’m asking, is it not?”

“I came here to see you, [Name].”

Your face softened at the response. “Even though you risked getting injured?”

“Hmmm,” Judal visibly ponders your question. “I guess so!”

You felt your face heat up. “You didn’t have to do that, Judal. I’ll be returning to Kou Empire in two days, remember?”

“So what? Two days is a long time, [Name].”

“You’re just impatient. Judal, you could have been killed.”

The Magi smiled a large grin. “But I’m not.”

You rub your temples in annoyance. This boy-he acted so much like a child. As much as you loved his childlike attitude, now was not the time for his nonsense.

“Hey, [Name]. I need to tell you something.”

“Is that why you came all the way over here?”

Judal turns his head away from you. “K-kinda.”

“It couldn’t wait for 48 more hours?”

“…No.”

You let out another sigh. “Fine, then. What is it?”

“I don’t want to tell you here.”

“Why not?”

“Because I don’t want to.”

You let out another sigh. There was no point fighting with Judal when he wanted to be a child.

“Alright, then. Let’s go back.”

The two of you walk back to the festival in comfortable, but at the same time awkward silence. If Judal had something to say to you personally, wouldn’t it be better to tell you in private?

As the hours went on, you seemed to have forgotten what Judal had to say.

The two of you have been dancing for a while, twirling and laughing to your hearts’ contents.

“Hey, [Name]!”

“You don’t have to yell into my ear, Judal. What is it?”

“I have to tell you something!”

You blink a few times, slightly confused.

“No way! Did you forget what I said earlier?”

“Uh,yes,actually.”

Judal does his trademark pout. “You’re hopeless, [Name]!”

“You never told me in the first place!”

This time, it’s Judal’s turn to sigh. “Well, just remember this time!”

Even with music blaring, the two of you dance in unexpected silence. Suddenly Judal yells over the noise so you can hear him.

“[Name]! Can you promise me something when we go back?”

“Sure, I guess. What is it?”

Judal stops dancing. Slightly confused, you stop as well, and look up at Judal to see a playful  grin on his face.

“Let’s get married!”
